Here, I try to explain the "etymology" of the word "probinshal" in this blog's setting. In short, pawang kathang-isip lamang poh ito kaya hindi dapat seryosohin ang pinanggalingan ng salitang ito. =)
FAQs:
1) Sosyal vs. Soshal
Sosyal is defined in www.urbandictionary.com as:
"A colloquial adjective, a Filipino Language slang, describing a person who is classy, or someone who is ostentatiously wealthy."
Ok, I am definitely not ostentatiously wealthy. Classy... Well yeah. Joke lang!!!
So there, that is why I do not consider myself sosyal. Soshal lang. So-so sosyal lang. Hence, the term so-shal. Not sosyal. Huh???
Ok, more examples then.
Angelina Jollie = sosyal
Me = soshal
Ibang level naman.
Patty Laurel = sosyal
Me = soshal
Ok na? Kinompare ko na sarili ko kay Angelina Jollie and Patty Laurel ah!😉😂😆
2) Why probinshal? Why not just call it probinsyal?
When you live in the provinces, most will assume that you live under a rock. Living in Davao City in Southern Mindanao is completely different from living in Manila. Life in the probinsha is slow, not harried. There is abundance of fresh air. It's safe and quiet. I admit it was not easy for me to embrace life here at first, as I was used to loud, crowded, mall-culture Manila. But now, I have come to appreciate it.
Life in the province can be soshal, hence the term "probin-shal" life, a play with the words probinsiya and soshal.
3) Who are you?
Marge, a.k.a. Garot.
